The time is almost here for taking a historical tour to Lazio and discover more about wine in Lazio. And, even better, it is during the Easter weekend. There is so much more to Lazio than Rome and Roman history. Well, it is true that the Roman era has had a great impact through the centuries and still has historically. Viticulture and winemaking were also central in the Roman Empire ad they took it with them and spread their knowledge on their many conquering journeys.
Wine production in Lazio has probably not been among the Italian wine regions drawing the most attention during several decades, but more recently there has been a rediscovery of what makes Lazio special wine-wise. Grapes such as Bellone, Nero Buono, and Cesanese are back in focus.
