On Tuesday, October 11th 2016, my guests on the Wines Of Italy Livestream were Federica and Gianluca Cabrini from Tenuta Belvedere in Montecalvo Versiggia, in the province of Pavia, Lombardy. This winery is situated in the Oltrepò Pavese wine district in Lombardy.
They produce a sparkling wine, m’Ami Spumante Extra Brut, made with pinot noir and produced using the metodo classico, i.e., the Champagne method. They also produce different wines such as a pinot noir vinified as a white wine, a Riesling DOC dell’Oltrepò Pavese, a Bonarda DOC dell’Oltrepò Pavese, and Coccìnea Croatina provincia di Pavia IGT. The last two are red wines, and the grape varieties Bonarda and Croatina are native grapes to the Oltrepò Pavese area in Lombardy.
We learnt more about the Oltrepò Pavese district in Lombardy, what makes this area unique and its terroir, and the wines produced there. Of course, we will also learn more about Federica and Gianluca Cabrini, their winery, Tenuta Belvedere, and their different wines.
